I hope I can be back soon. 🙂

Happy New Year 2008

4 01 2008

Just got back to work yesterday. This is already a bit late. Happy New Year guys.

To start the year, just found out that Microsoft Singapore is offering some free certifications for the community user groups. To those interested, dont miss this opportunity. Check this link out.

I am still finishing reading the book Way of the Turtle: The Secret Methods that Turned Ordinary People into Legendary Traders. I think I have different main priorities and goals for this year, and getting a certification is just not it yet. Well since this is free I’ll just decide if I’m going to take this promotion after I finish reading the book.

Here is the book to those interested:

A Joke about a job in consulting

19 10 2007

I just really like it that I thought I need to share it. Enjoy! 😀

◊ One day the manager calls the consultant to talk about the time sheet report…

Manager: You charged us on Wednesday for 19 hours, but you were here for only about 9 hours on Wednesday.

Consultant: Well, of course. Look, it is very detailed. I was here from 9:00 to 18:00, right?

Manager: Right.

Consultant: And because we left without a good solution, I kept thinking about it in the car, and when I walked the dog. You see, it is the entries for 18:00 – 19:30 and 20:00 – 20:45. From 19:30 – 20:00 I had dinner, I didn’t charge you for that.

Manager: Nice of you. And the other 8 hours? 22:00 – 06:00 ?

Consultant: Well, when I walked the dog, I finally had a vision, everything came together in a moment of brilliance, and I could see the solution in my head. All I had to do is connect some little pieces and it would work.

Manager: Oh, so you did an all nighter?

Consultant: Ha? Of course not. I went home thinking about the idea, and then I went to bed and slept on it for 8 hours. ◊

Smiley Anniversary; Mother’s smile

19 09 2007

Digital ‘smiley face’ turns 25

Smiley just got 25 or should it be 24? Whatever it is. The symbol : – ) that gave made us smile and put emotions into text speak celebrates its anniversary.

Thinking about smiles and smileys. I can always remember the smile in my moms face. She’s got the smile that launched a thousand ships hehehe. She always wears her smile and just being with her, you will forget all your problems for a moment. (Of course, you won’t forget all of it as you need to solve it first. Hehehe)

It’s her birthday yesterday! Too bad I cannot celebrate it with you and the family. As I am far. I’ll just make it up when I get home this December.

Happy Birthday to you mama. Love you. 🙂

Technical Analysis for Dummies & m&ms

17 09 2007

I was busy reading this book. And suddenly got hungry.

My eyes also got weary and tired. Need to have a break.

Just see what I ate. This is not just some ordinary snack. Guess where the M&Ms came from. See the yummy chocolates for yourself!

Doesn’t it comes match with the book. See even Mr Dummy agrees. Hehehe 😀

Late Onam Greeting

2 09 2007

Namaskaram, a greeting in Malayalam, one of the many I think 57 Indian languages. I would like to share these few pics we took on that day in this Onam greeting post of mine. If you fancy eating lots, really lots of different food in one seating. We have celebrated Onam eating 25 different dishes. Eat all you can hehehe.

Thinking about this I missed our gluttonous buffets in the Philippines. Anyways, here is the Kerala (Southern India) version. Enjoy!!! Belated Happy Onam Day!!! 🙂

An Investor post

28 08 2007

I have been thinking nowadays on how to make my money grow. I have been working here in Singapore for more than a year now. The interest on savings accounts here is really low. Imagine if I’m not mistaken it is only 0.25% only per annum. That is really small. It is just leaving your money to the bank and let them get rich with it.

I have just attended an annual investor fair organized by ShareInvestor. It was really a worthwile experience as with this I got to know a lot of  new options in the market depending on your target return and risk level. I really learned a lot about investments and some psychology if you do it. The new things I learned is about CFDs, ETF, Option trading, structured warrants and FX.

What really interest me the most amongst the instruments introduced are ETF and FX trading. Been doing some technical analysis reading for quite some time now on FX(Foreign Exchange). But still lacks practice. So I will have to develop my trading system then after that try if it works. Then if I’m earning and gets my confidence level, then that time I will then go live.

ETF or Exchange Traded Fund, on the other hand, will be my secondary fund just to diversify my investments. I am still doing my research but got some tips from S&P in the event, that it is the right time to invest now, because NAV prices are low due to the recent market corrections.

Well best of luck to me on my targets and investor life. Happy Investing!

In the world of IT, if you want to earn more financially and get more experience in diverse domains, being an IT Contractor is the best way to go. You can be an IT Contractor if you have the skill and the guts of earning more with the risk of having times you don’t have any job (once a contract ends).  I have just joined this bandwagon. If you’re still not, here are some points that you need to know and hopefully get you started.
